It hadn't been Gabe's intention to frighten the poor man, and the Archangel's expression wavered between chagrin and bewildered apprehension until Skul's reassurance came. Only then did he relax a little. It wasn't, he told himself, that he believed he might be sending out demonic vibes. It was just that ... for a few moments there he had been afraid of it. Or at least that Finbar might be sensing something of his almost-Fall.
The apprehension gave way to sheepish concern as it sank in what this meant and that Gabe really should have focussed on that first. "It's okay," he said, and managed a genuine smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Finbar. I just--being compared to my brother isn't exactly something any of us likes to hear, you understand. But you're right; you're not used to this sort of thing. I'm sorry."
As warm and genuine as the apology was, there was a faint air of distractedness around the Archangel as he glanced at Skul, halfway between amused and worried. Lucifer, here? And Michael too, by the sounds of it? How? Lucifer couldn't leave Earth!
And, beneath that: Finbar Wrong was indeed powerful if he could glimpse the resonance of angels. Or perhaps those of the future truly were being obvious. "You've got quite a bit of that lovely red sand in your boots, Skul," he offered absently. "Finbar, did happen to see how Lucifer got here?"
