"No," Gabe whispered with abject misery, turning his head just enough so he could look at Skul through one slitted eye. "No sleeping, no falling unconscious. Wish I could."

He'd never needed to wish that before, even in those few moments he'd idly wondered what it felt like to dream; now he knew how that felt quite well. He also knew quite well how sleep could make all the pain disappear, make time move fast, make it seem as those the hours weren't spent in pain at all. Given all that, he really, really wished angels could fall asleep.

The Archangel wasn't whimpering anymore, but the lines on his face, the tears in his eyes--he looked a sight, to say the least, curled up on the sofa like he was. Not pathetic, but wretched and vulnerable. He could really do without being ill and injured, and that was as a human. Somehow being an angel made it worse.

Still. If the room had healing properties that would be nice, and with the way Gabe was feeling right now he'd even give Ms Sorrows a thank-you gift if it worked. Moreover, it was likely Rafe and Merlin would also need the help when they arrived--whenever that might be.

Exhaling slowly and bracing himself, Gabriel shut his eyes and made to lever himself upright. He'd been hoping that without sight, the dizziness might not be quite so intense. It didn't really work, and the Archangel reached out to grip the sofa's arm, swaying in his seat.
