Primly the Archangel laid the cards down crossways on his last set. "I don't know," he said cheerfully. "Haven't been keeping track. May I have a four, Valkyrie?"
As it turned out, the phone-call had indeed been China asking about the new door--as Ghastly told them when he had hung up and asked Fletcher to pick her up (given that it was difficult to tell just where the front hall was). Gabriel tried to hide his smile behind his cards, but he wasn't entirely sure how effective it was.
When Fletcher returned with China a few seconds later, the Archangel smiled beatifically up at her, his eyes twinkling. "Hello, Ms Sorrows. Nice morning, isn't it?"
