impudentsongbird: (since the very start)

The conversation was a present but distant thing, something Gabe was letting trickle into his awareness without focussing on it. He let the sound of Tanith and Ghastly's voices break up the vibration of the church, but they were physical sounds to a metaphysical--it didn't quite work as well as he wished.

Skulduggery's mental voice was enough of a surprise to make the Archangel start, because he hadn't really been paying attention to Prave's soul at all. He didn't particularly want to. The metaphysical sound did help ground him, though.

"Um ..." Under other circumstances, the Archangel might have teased Skulduggery about wanting him to use his powers. But, right now, Gabe was too caught in-between the sound and the headache and trying to balance both using Skul's calm, and he defaulted to the thing he knew best. Automatically Gabe glanced toward Prave. Oh. He was lying.

"He must have been here," the Archangel said, a little subdued but loud enough to cut through the conversation ahead. "I've seen him here."

Gabe wasn't lying. He'd just seen it through less usual methods.
