Halfway through the beginning of Skulduggery's explanation as to his mysterious 'friend', it clicked in Gabriel's head. The Archangel bent inward a little, covering his face with his hand to hide the laughter--vainly. It didn't work in the least.

"Well then," he said after a moment, once he'd recovered. He was still grinning. "I suppose it's a good thing we know a noble Sanctuary agent, then."

He set the deck neatly down on the table and took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment to assess himself and figure out how far he could push himself, and whether he should take his cloaking slow. Definitely slow, he decided after a moment. He had oil, but he hadn't used it yet and his body still ached, even though his head and wings felt better. "Just give me a minute to weave up my human form."

"I got too many!" the stranger informed Ghastly back, the same sort of way except that his smile was genuine. "'Dad' just keeps everythin' simple. Can't have too many dads."

When Ghastly drained his next drink as easily as if it was water 'Dad' grinned at him proudly, like the tailor really was his own son and had done something Ghastly had been working toward for years. "Aw, there's always plenty of stuff people can be doin'. People forget to enjoy what's here and now. Like this be-yoo-tiful rotgut fit to strip your engine."

Within the blink of an eye, his next drink was gone too.
