impudentsongbird: (i can love)

While Skulduggery made that final choice, Gabriel turned and swiftly wrote the final spiral, glancing toward where the outermost ward was now glowing. In the darkness of the tunnel, it seemed even brighter than it was. The Archangel tied off the spiral; it locked into place with a hum, and for those sensitive enough to hear it, the seven-fold wards resonated. Finally Gabriel tucked away the chalk and turned to his friend to wait for a response.

The answer made Gabriel's responding smile radiant with gratitude. "I'll be sure not to. It means a lot that you'd trust me with this, Skul. But--" He glanced again toward the wards. The second spiral was beginning to resonate now. "--I think we should move further into the tunnels before we do anything. We probably don't want to be here when they arrive."

No one, not gods or servants, or Fallen Angels turned insane, would be able to get past those wards. That didn't mean it would be pleasant to see the results. Not to mention a waste of their precious time.
