Anton didn't even sense Sanguine until the Texan was right next to him. Sharply the sorcerer looked up, but too late--all he glimpsed was a boot and then pain erupted in his side. Too exhausted to even try to resist, to react at all, Anton went flying back, struck the wall, and rolled to the floor, gasping for the air he still so badly needed.

The blow made his head ring and his fatigue made the world burn white for several critical moments. By the time it eased, he was mildly surprised to find himself still alive. At least, he was up until he rolled over with a groan, again only in time to see the boot--this time the sole.

With that weird sort of calm for something he knew he couldn't change, because he could barely move, Anton watched the boot descend, felt the sharp pain in his face and head and let it drag him down into unconsciousness.
