Gabriel radiated a quiet sort of sympathy, and slipped up beside the man to lay a gentle hand on his elbow. He couldn't use his powers actively, but that didn't mean he couldn't offer a bit of comfort. At the sorcerer's comment, however, the Archangel's face transformed with a beaming grin and sparkling eyes.

"Hah. Metcha too, did he? Ghast mentioned they met up. It's something we used to do all the time, if there was a carnival around. Go in, make bets on who could win the most teddy-bears, and then when we came out the winner chose where the bears went." He chuckled. "Sometimes it's a hospital, sometimes it's an orphanage, sometimes it's just to anyone who happens to pass by. My Daddy believes a lot in the help of teddy-bears."

And actually, he was glad Guild had brought it up. Because it was relevant. The Archangel stopped them before they could get too far into places where they'd be seen. "Actually," he said, gentleness in his tone, "I got one for you. Or, well, someone asked me to give it to you, when I said I'd be seein' you today. She said you were gonna need it more. And she wanted you to have a reminder of what was outside."

Gabe rarely wore backpacks or carried bags. On this occasion, he made an exception, a simple opaque shopping-bag though it was. The Archangel reached into it and pulled out the teddy-bear his Master had given Guild's daughter, holding it out to the sorcerer without breaking gaze.

He hadn't told anyone he'd gone. No one except Fletcher, because he'd asked if the young sorcerer would take him. But the Archangel had gone to the Guilds' house the night before, to offer what comfort he could.
