Gabe surveyed the desk for a moment, very carefully rearranged it a bit so he could sit on the edge, and did so, hands folded in his lap. The whole time, the smile never left. As confident as the actions were, there was an oddly contrasting gentleness in them all. As if Gabe was still using kid gloves, for the moment; as if he wasn't deliberately out to make Tenebrae look foolish, but that Tenebrae would as a result of his own actions and answers.
"Well, since you asked so nicely. You're gonna let us take Sol, Auron, because, well, you may've heard that he and Skulduggery Pleasant were kinda attached back in the day." He waved a hand toward the general direction of the Temple entrance. "Obviously he ain't here right now, but that took some arguin', believe me. He knows we're here. And he knows Sol is here. And he even knows you did something really bad to him. Now."
The Archangel looked back at Tenebrae, and although the smile had never left his face, it now took on the faintest of steely edges. "The question you oughta be askin' yourself, Auron, is that given what both you and I know about Skulduggery's past activities, and the fact he's just spent a year in a dimension filled with Faceless Ones, do you really wanna be pokin' that hornet's nest?" He tilted his head. The smile looked friendly, almost gentle even. His gaze never flickered. "Or for the rest of the Temples to find out the details about that failure? I'd like t'remind you, here, that he's expectin' us to report back pretty soon."
