Gabriel did, of course, know what seatbelts were, seeing as he could drive. (He had, in fact, been one of the first angels to learn to drive. There were a great many similarities to driving and flying, and Gabriel was a very accomplished flyer. Bumper-cars was one of the few things he'd actually been able to beat his Master at. Then again, Gabe had always suspected the Creator just liked being able to run into things without consequence.)
But the Archangel said nothing about this, and only thanked Ghastly sincerely for the care.
He glanced from Ghastly to Skulduggery with a tiny smile, marvelling at the obvious years of experience between them. It was in their banter. The sort of bond that Gabriel and his siblings always loved to see.
As the van pulled away the Archangel was laughing, and it took him a moment or two to stop. Then he turned to Tanith, still grinning. "How did you meet Skul?" he asked. "He said you're a relatively recent friend. Or the rest of you? I'd like to say he's told me all about you, but--" His lips twitched. "--I'm not a very good liar."
