impudentsongbird: (but i need his heart)

Gabe was laughing madly, sprawled in one of the pews. He'd known as the car pulled up just what the other Archangel had planned--it would've been difficult to miss that tenor of mischief and the skin Rafe had been wearing. The part that really, truly made it worthwhile was the look on Skulduggery's face.

"I need to get a leash and a muzzle," Merlin said as he approached behind the others, but his grin belied his words. Rafe panted happily, tongue lolling, still on two paws and leaned into Ghastly's grip, but without straining against it. His tail whapwhapwhapped madly against the tailor's legs.

"Rawf!" he barked happily in response to Paddy's greeting.

"Shouldn't you be controlling him?" Solomon asked Gabe without much hope, torn between laughing and bemusement. "I'd hate to be an accessory to a priest being ravaged by a dog."

"Where'd be the fun in that?" Gabe asked innocently, eyes wide as he sat up even with a grin that fair split his face. He made to rise but in the heartbeat necessary for the motion the man was gone and a black lab was in its place, shooting out from between the pews to tackle Rafe.

The older Archangel went wrenching from Ghastly's hands with a yelp, rolling to his feet and growling. Gabe danced on his paws, ears flicking in a very smug sort of manner, tail held high. With a bark Rafe lunged at him, and then all at once there was a not-very-vicious-at-all pair of dogs rolling on the floor as if they were still half-grown puppies and the church a playground.
