Myron's reaction made Gabe's heart clench and he smiled gently, sadly, at the man. He could well imagine the life the man had led, the reason he was so distrusting. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn't too broken to come back yet. But instead of signing an answer, Gabe searched his pockets for a blank business card and a pencil to write one. So Myron could keep it if he wanted. So Myron would have the benefit of understanding the whole of it, and not just pieces.

'Because I want to. Because I can. Because people like you are the reason this job makes me happy. I don't really need a reason, but those are the main ones.'

Gabe handed the card to Myron with another smile and then turned toward Skulduggery and Valkyrie to give the man some space to absorb that. "Who did we get?" he asked, signing the same to keep Myron in the conversation.
