To be honest, Gabe had suspected Valkyrie would make that request. And he thought it was a better idea than his staying away. He was good at this kind of thing. He was good at calming people after a shock--usually after they'd died, true, but still. Her parents didn't need to know more than that he had magic.

Not that he'd take over. He'd let Valkyrie lead, because this was her responsibility. But he could be there, for her and for her parents. His smile softened and he squeezed her hand again. "Of course. Whatever you'd like. I'll even have hugs waiting for you all for afterward. I've got plenty to spare."

He always did. With one last squeeze he drew back and opened the door to step out of the Bentley with a stretch.

"Oh, hey, Fletch," he said, turning back to duck his head into the Bentley and peer innocently at the Teleporter with wide eyes. "I don't suppose you could go keep an eye on Rafe for me? I think he's probably going to get bored pretty soon and Merlin deserves some time off babysitting him."
