Kelly was staring. Staring gleefully, but she was still staring. "Oh my God, you're blushing. You're perfect for one another. You're both so fecking virginal. I love it. Keep him, Gabs. Keep him so we can torment him more."

Skulduggery wasn't the only one blushing, at that point, but Gabe bravely tried to ignore his new friend's remarks to answer Skulduggery's concerns. He also did his best to ignore Skulduggery's very distracting problem, in deference to the detective's preference that this circumstance not have arisen at all. "That's ... about it, yes. Though to be fair, Janet runs the shelter, so she's sort-of involved." He smiled lopsidedly. "Otherwise, everything else is basically accurate. I didn't want to make things too easy for you."

Fortunately for both Gabe and Skulduggery, Kelly sobered up once Skulduggery addressed her directly, although it didn't quite get rid of the speculative gleam in her eyes as she regarded him. "She's been calling herself Angela. And not quite. Janet wants more proof. Nice as Gabby is, we've only known her for a day, and technically not lying or not, she did come into the shelter under a mislead. Either you arrest Angela--Marr--outside of the shelter or you bring Janet evidence that she did what you say she did."

Which was why Kelly was here. Janet didn't quite trust Gabe to actually be firm enough with Skulduggery about how to handle the issue. She was wrong, but Gabe could understand why she would think that, and why she would feel the need for someone she did trust to be present during the conversation.

It was understandable, but it made their job harder. "We do have a witness," Gabe said quietly, "and Myron would like nothing more than to see Marr hang for this."
