It wasn't the first time Skulduggery met anyone who distrusted government, and he highly doubted it would be the last. In fact, he usually counted himself among that number - less so these days, what with two of his closest friends being on the Council of Elders. Two of his closest friends, and... whatever Solomon was these days. A burgeoning friend? An easy acquaintance? Someone Skulduggery could trust, at any rate.
Even so, it helped that Kelly was implying nice things about the Bentley. Valkyrie wouldn't have done that. Valkyrie didn't do that, back when she first saw it. The poor girl just didn't understand good taste.
Skulduggery raised his arms in a mock gesture of surrender as he followed them out of the cafe. "Sarcasm leashed. I'm happy with what you're doing. I'd probably be helping, if it wasn't so annoyingly inconvenient at the moment."
