"Oh." If Kelly wasn't mistaken, Saffron actually looked disappointed. "Okay. Let me know."

Kelly grinned, tried to hide it and failed. She couldn't say that this particular branch of the government was anything but weird, what with their training minors and complete lack of subtlety. No wonder Gabby fit in. But already Saffron wanted to help, and for no other reason than because she could and it made her feel useful.

It'd be good if they had her start helping out around the shelter, Kelly decided. Just little things, things which had nothing to do with what she had done before. Except maybe the nursing. They could always use a first-aid person. She'd put it to Janet.

"Alright, alright." She pushed herself to her feet and waited through the brief dizziness which reminded her that adrenaline wouldn't carry her all the way through the day. "You'll probably want to check up on Saffron every now and then, but just let us know before you come, okay? Some of the girls get niggly if they know there's cops around."

She pointed at the door. "In the meantime, there's the door. And thanks." She smiled, tight and a little wearily. "Knowing Marr's not around to darken our door again is a lot of help."

Now, what could she do to occupy Saffron before she sequestered herself back into her room? Maybe the laundry ... Kelly turned away from Tanith and Steph to give the nurse a considering look and plot out how to keep Saffron's attention.
