"We are?" Gabriel was about to twist around to try and look, and thought better of it when his body twinged. Then he cast his senses out to try and find the sense of pursuit, and thought better of that, too, when his head throbbed. Instead he smiled wryly. "I'm glad one of us is paying attention."
Still, that description of Teleportation was really quite ... impressive. And since Skulduggery had things well in hand, Gabriel turned back to Fletcher. "None of the magical folk from my world can carry so many at once," he said. "At least, not those alive; the blood of the Ancients has thinned too much, so even those who have the skill are limited. Even angels can carry only so many."
It was mostly a matter of physical limitations. Angels flew, and they could only be so burdened because they had only so many limbs. Then again, they rarely flew others with them, let alone at great numbers, and so the exact boundary of their magic in that regard hadn't really been tested. This sounded like an actual linking, a chain of magic, and it was fascinating.
"In fact," he continued, "I think I can learn a lot from this myself. Your magic sounds just similar enough that I can work with it, but just different enough that it's new to me. I'd love the opportunity to learn with you, Fletcher."
