It wasn't easy, by any stretch of the imagination, but Fletcher was delighted to find that he remembered more than he thought. School was one of the reasons he'd run away from home in the first place. He'd never had good connotations with it, and he didn't think he'd ever need some of the more complicated lessons, let alone be able to learn them. Gabriel was turning that right on its head; with every appreciative grin and supportive word, you'd think the Archangel had nothing more he wanted to do than teach Fletcher everything he knew. And something about the easygoing attitude, the genuine passion, made Fletcher want to learn everything he could.
The shift in conversation surprised him. Gabriel's tone had grown a little too concerned for him to just be talking about the language lessons anymore.
"With what?" Fletcher asked after a moment. "With the words, or with..." He indicated the place where the entrance still was with a sweeping gesture. "That?" Fletcher didn't think he needed to elaborate. Apart from some new life questions, he was perfectly happy with never thinking about that again. "Or with you? Because..." The Teleporter glanced up at the cowboy hat. "To be honest, I'm kind of getting over that now."
