"You'll find," Gabe said with tired humour as he pushed back the brim of his hat, "that many religions have a world-ending plot. Even Christians focus too much on the end, and not enough on the now."

Not that Heaven wasn't a wonderful place to be, because it was; but something Gabe had always found very sad was the way many people seemed to view their time on Earth as some kind of waiting-room or Purgatory until they could get there. Where was the fun in that? Where was the attention to beauty right there on Earth?

The Archangel followed Skul's gaze, smiling at the sunset, the tension visibly easing from his face. It was beautiful. He couldn't imagine why people were so focussed on leaving this planet instead of enjoying it for all the time they had.

He was so busy enjoying the sight that Skul's question came as almost a surprise, and it was with a faint sense of reluctance that Gabe pulled his attention away from the view. "Yes," he said, and managed a small grin. "He said I looked like I needed a relaxer, so we had drinks and watched the baseball for a little while before we started talking about dimensions." The Archangel looked back to the sunset. "It took me a bit to get up the courage to ask for details, and in the end, I decided I didn't really need them. But He said enough so that I'd be able to get through the curtains of reality, and to confirm that I needed to follow the rosary."
