A moment later he was forced to step back again as the whirlwind that was Valkyrie Cain swept past. He had to laugh at her delight. It was impossible not to. For once, he felt as if he was truly seeing Valkyrie as she was--as a child, and a friend, and someone who deserved some joy.
"If He were watching, He'd be enjoying this," Gabe said with a grin. Of course He would be. All of Gabriel's siblings would, because this was the kind of thing they lived for.
And Valkyrie was quite correct: Skul's eyes did twinkle when he smiled. It looked nice. It looked even better when he laughed. If Gabe were anyone else, the size of his own grin would have been labelled 'silly'.
He dropped back beside Fletcher, taking the young Teleporter's hand and squeezing it reassuringly. "He's always had a face; people just can't see it normally. It looks good on him though, don't you think?"
